The December 13th 2018 Senior Executives Association Presidential Rank Awards Leadership Summit was a day full celebration, thought leadership, networking and professional development education. More than 500 senior leaders from government, the private sector and academia were on hand to recognize the 131 Presidential Rank Awards and have peer-to-peer discussions. In addition, distinguished keynote speakers – Department of Energy Deputy Secretary Dan Brouillette; Margaret Weichert, Acting Director of OPM and Deputy Director for Management at OMB; and Joseph Heck, Chairman of the National Commission on Military, National and Public Service – discussed their leadership philosophies and recognized the enormous accomplishments of the PRA honorees.

WASHINGTON, DC – The Senior Executives Association (SEA) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) announcement today of new hiring authorities intended to allow for a faster, more efficient recruitment and onboarding process for in-demand positions, including STEM, cybersecurity, and IT-related workforce needs.
Washington, D.C. – The Senior Executives Association released the following statement in response to today’s release of the results of the Department of Interior Office of Inspector General’s investigation into the 2017 relocation of dozens of senior executives within DOI’s Executive Review Board (ERB), which prompted widespread accusations of potential discrimination on the bases of political affiliation, gender, career status, and race.
“Today’s report by the Department of Interior Office of Inspector General confirmed what SEA and many career executives at the agency have long suspected about the Department’s decision to reassign 35 senior executives in 2017,” said SEA President Bill Valdez. “The agency did not comply with legal requirements; ignored regulatory guidance; and had no documented plan, methodology, or real business case that justified their actions.”
Washington, D.C. – The Senior Executives Association today released the following statement in response to the Office of Management and Budget’s official unveiling of the President’s Management Agenda (PMA) for 2019.
“The release of the President Management’s Agenda is a significant step forward in the effort to modernize the Federal government,” said SEA President Bill Valdez. “As the PMA makes clear, the federal government needs to break down silos, modernize business processes, and build a 21st Century workforce that is responsive to the disruptive challenges our nation is facing.”
“The PMA rightly identifies many of the impediments our federal government confronts on a daily basis, while also correctly recognizing that the necessary solutions will require long-term commitment,” Valdez concluded. “SEA shares a long-term modernization vision and looks forward to working with the administration as it begins to implement the PMA, recognizing that a successful implementation cannot be achieved without involving career senior executives in the process.”
