Meet Your Teachers
Phillis Morgan is the founder of Resilient At Work, a consultancy that helps organizations tackle intolerable levels of workplace conflict, stress from “go-go” environments, and bias, using workplace-centric, mindfulness-based programs. These programs help reduce stress and strife, increase respect and civility, and free up conflict resources for other business initiatives. Phillis is a NATO Medal recipient, meditation teacher, executive coach and employment lawyer. She has worked in conflict environments for 30 years, including Afghanistan, Uganda and Nepal, and has studied mindfulness meditation with masters in Thailand and India. She has defended the federal government’s largest employers, including the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense and Justice, as well as Fortune 100 companies, in hundreds of legal actions with billions of dollars and reputations at risk. Phillis has advised CEOs, Cabinet secretaries, military generals, and senior executive service members. Phillis is committed to working with organizations and individuals in ways that seek to shift thinking so that a process of integrated, sustained development can occur.
Mark Bates is a former executive leader in military psychological health and Air Force pilot who brings extensive experience in helping organizations develop their employees’ capacity for resilience, that is, adapting and growing in the face of stressors and changing demands. His previous roles included overseeing military resilience and prevention efforts at the Department of Defense enterprise level, leveraging science and best practices to develop holistic models of well-being and optimal performance. His expertise will enhance resilience and performance benefits across the challenges faced by federal and non-federal organizations alike.
