James Corbett, Treasurer (Nuclear Regulatory Commission)
James Corbett, a member of the Senior Executive Service, serves as Director of the Acquisition Management Division at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). In 2012, he was appointed as head of the contracting activity and is charged with ensuring that the agency acquires the best value products and services consistent with Federal acquisition principles. From October 2014 through December 2014, he served as the Acting Director of the Office of Small Business and Civil Rights.
He joined the NRC in 2002 and held progressively more responsible positions in the Office of Information Services (OIS). In 2006, he was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as Director, Business Process Improvement and Applications Division, OIS, where he directed the investment planning, project management, application development, and enterprise architecture programs.
Outside of his federal service, Corbett has served as Director of the Energy Federal Credit Union since 2004 and has been Vice Chairman since 2010. He is a member and executive advisor of NRC GLOBE, the forum for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied agency employees. He is also certified as a Volunteer Trail Ranger and Trail Work Leader in the Montgomery County parks, and is a member of the organizing committee and significant contributor to large charity events for the regional mountain bike club. In addition, he is a member of the Montgomery County Public School's Curriculum Advisory Committee on Family Life and Human Development.
Corbett, an SEA lifetime member, holds a Master's of Science in Management of Technology (MBA) from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science and Computer Based Honors from the University of Alabama.
