angela phillips diazPriorities:  The coming years in federal service will consist of opportunities and likely unprecedented challenges.  I bring a unique skill set based on experiences in various organizations (government, academia, and non-profits) in a variety of disciplines (S&T, legislative, strategic planning, negotiations) that will be helpful to SEA and its Board.  Navigating the immediate crises while keeping a clear, persistent, strategic focus on where the SEA can be in the next 5 years will be a priority.  SEA is uniquely positioned to be the experienced voice at the table iUCSDn service to its members, to the agencies’ missions, and to U.S. taxpayer and the nation.   We have an obligation to mentor and coach the next generation of Senior Executives so they are prepared to be at the table with thought leaders and decision makers locally, regionally, and nationally.  Federal service is an honorable and chosen profession that we have a duty to advocate for and attract and retain the best and brightest.  It would be my privilege to serve on the SEA Board and continue my career in support of public service.

SEA Experience and Other Activities:  SEA Lifetime member.  Appointment and service on 2015 and 2016 Presidential Rank Review Boards.  Active participant in various SEA webinars.  Leadership roles in non-profits:  ARCS Foundation National Board (Chair, Science and Engineering Advisory Committee) and Co-President Washington Metro Chapter; Women In Aerospace (WIA) Foundation (Chair, Scholarship Committee).

Professional Experience:  Multi-faceted leader and manager with demonstrated expertise in complex, diverse organizations including federal government research universities, and non-profits with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  A 30-year career in Federal service including over a decade in Senior Executive Service, leading organizations in public policy (White House Office of Science and Technology Policy), STEM education, government relations, aerospace, strategic communications, and international relations (NASA).  I have experienced several Presidential transitions and Congressional leadership changes and successfully navigated the resulting impacts both inside NASA and OSTP as well as within tier-1 research universities.
