laura k. furgionePrioritiesAccording to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of people aged 55 and older will increase to 73% by 2020 and by 2030, an unprecedented 20% of the population will be over age 65.  This means the federal workforce is also aging.  SEA is the only formal entity actively supporting us – the federal senior executive service (SES) – and ensuring policies affecting us are in our best interest.  This is particularly important when it comes to our nest egg. As an SEA Board Member, I will stand up for your retiree benefits, salary reform, developmental opportunities, and ensure accountability of all public servants.  We are the model for government service; career employees provide the continuity of government our communities require.  I have seen and worked in every corner of our great nation and am proud to say I am a federal public servant.  I will work to ensure our highly regarded and prestigious image is maintained and strengthened.  And the provision of our products and services are openly available to strengthen our nation’s economic vitality by a cadre of experts who continually develop their skills and innovate government.
