Building the Leadership Profession Starts with Individual Professional Development

As noted in the President’s column this month, SEA is focusing on the policy around building leadership as a profession in the federal sector. SEA is also helping members build their individual professional skills through the services offered by the Association.

If you haven’t checked out the Members Only section of SEA’s website, please do. SEA staff is working to revitalize the site and the services that SEA provides to members. These services are targeted at providing members with strategic connections, insight into cutting-edge practices and resources, career advancement tools, and thought leadership on a variety of government management issues.

Here are just a few of the things you’ll start seeing on the members only site, Action and member alerts:

Ask the Expert – If you have a question, need advice, or want to find out how other agencies are handling a specific topic, fill out the online form and SEA will connect you with other members to tackle your question.

Job & Detail Opportunities – find job openings across government, post detail opportunities, or connect with other SEA members on job needs.

Coaching – SEA partners with organizations to offer career coaching for a variety of leadership development needs.

Mentoring – SEA members can serve as mentors to the next generation of leaders, or find a mentor for themselves.

Networking – SEA hosts coffees, brown bag lunches, and the occasional happy hour to bring members together to build relationships across agencies and sectors.

Information Sharing - Current trends, hot topics, promising practices and current research & reports will be highlighted on the Members Only page and in Action.

Service Discounts – SEA partners with companies to provide members discounts on legal advice, professional liability insurance, financial planning, and coaching.
