The Honorable Sylvia Matthews Burwell and The Honorable Leon E. Panetta have formally agreed to accept Elliot L. Richardson Prize for Excellence in Public Service Award. The Award ceremony will take place the evening of Tuesday, February 13, 2017, starting at 5:30 in the Pavilion Room of the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC.
The Prize, which honors Mr. Richardson’s extraordinary public service, is presented biennially to individuals possessing the public service virtues he exemplified. Mr. Richardson, a late National Academy Fellow, served in four Cabinet-level positions in the U.S. government: Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW), Secretary of Defense, Attorney General and Secretary of Commerce. Our last Prize ceremony and reception were well received and we look forward to recognizing the outstanding public service performed by The Honorable Sylvia Matthews Burwell and The Honorable Leon E. Panetta.
