Ninth Annual Key Executive Leadership Conference

What: The Annual Key Executive Leadership Conference is a 200-person conference provided by the School of Public Affairs Key Executive Leadership Programs at American University. This event provides participants with the opportunity to explore principles, industry trends, and best leadership practices through key plenary and concurrent session presentations given by exceptional leaders in the field. Set in the heart of Washington, D.C., Key conference participants are from the federal government and public sector as well as non-governmental and non-profit organizations. The 2018 conference theme focuses on Innovation in a Box.

Sixth Annual Executive Branch Review Conference


When: April 17th, 2018 @ 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
What: The Sixth Annual Executive Branch Review Conference will examine the increase in federal regulatory activity and the legal and practical considerations of regulatory reform. This daylong conference will feature plenary panels, addresses, and breakout panels.

The Conference will begin with an opening address by Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs Administrator Neomi Rao and end with a closing address by Senator Ben Sasse and a reception.

There is no cost to attend this event; lunch and reception are included in registration. Cost for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits is $50.

With Courage and Conviction: Dwight Ink’s New Book Launch

Where: National Academy of Public Administration; 1600 K St NW, Suite 400; Washington, D.C.
When: THURSDAY, MARCH 15, 2018 AT 3:30PM - 5:30PM
WhatWith Courage and Conviction presents Dwight’s successful management strategies in his 50 years of public service in the context of nine especially important achievements in his career, including the Alaska Recovery and Nixon’s New Federalism initiative.  A panel of Fellows will review and critique the book’s thesis that Dwight’s successful management strategies are relevant to current public service professionals despite the current toxic climate. 

Moderated by Kurt Thurmaier, our panelists will discuss the efficacy of Dwight’s strategies for current SES and other senior federal officers.  Attendees will receive a free copy of the book, courtesy of Dwight and the publisher. Additionally, Dwight will be available to sign copies of the book.

IT Modernization Summit

The Joint Financial Management Improvement Program (JFMIP), a cooperative undertaking of the Treasury, GAO, OMB and OPM, will hold its annual Federal Financial Management Conference on May 7, 2018, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. This one-day conference provides a forum for those in the federal financial management community to learn about current issues, exchange knowledge, and share experiences in improving financial management operations and policies.

Please see the attached form (click here to review and download) for information about submitting a nomination for the Donald L. Scantlebury Memorial Award. Nominations are due to by March 9, 2018.

NEW for 2018 – federal employees must submit a registration form with their agency IPAC information to Before registering, please check with your agency to ensure that payment is authorized. This form can be found on the Bureau of Fiscal Service public page under Training & Events.
