Please pardon our dust! The SEA website and membership database are under construction until mid-May due to some exciting changes that are in progress. Until then, we will not be issuing any new member identification numbers. Please email any membership inquiries to action@seniorexecs.org. Also, SEA Headquarters has a new address. Going forward, please send all USPS correspondence to 7918 Jones Branch Drive, Suite 300, McLean, VA 22102. We look forward to unveiling a brand new SEA website in mid-May which will greatly enhance your membership experience. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience!

Volunteering With Project Next Generation

Volunteering With Project Next Generation

Would you like to participate in Project Next Generation but are afraid that you don't have the time to be a mentor in the SEA/YGL program? Don't let that stop you from being a volunteer for the Project Next Generation Initiative. While our mentoring program with Young Government Leaders (YGL) has been in the forefront lately, that is not the only thing we need your help with!

Below is a list of activities that may be coming down the road and that you might wish to participate in or provide resources for. There is also a choice of "other" because there may be services and resources that you can provide that do not fit into one of the items listed. So please e-mail Melanie Stinnett at Stinnett@seniorexecs.org if you are willing to commit to groom future generations of leaders, and what activity/resource you can provide in furtherance of your commitment.

  • Participating in flash mentoring on a one-time basis
  • Participating as a mentor in a longer term program
  • Attending mentoring networking events even if you are not a mentor in the program
  • Participating in panel discussions on leadership topics at networking events
  • Participating in focus groups at SEA office on how to groom the next generation of leaders
  • Providing shadowing opportunities for potential young leaders who want to observe an executive at work
  • Participating in mock interviews for development programs
  • Reviewing draft executive core qualifications, technical qualifications, resumes and cover letters for young leaders applying for positions
  • Talking to young leaders who are applying for jobs in your agencies and want to assess if they will fit into the culture and mission of the organization
  • Providing training presentation on leadership topics
  • Writing articles for SEA, YGL and out other partners to distribute to potential young leaders
  • Other (you tell me the ideas you have regarding how you can contribute – no idea is off-limits, and no time commitment is too small).
